Self catering accommodation in
Guernsey, Channel Islands

Vazon Self Catering Logo

General Information

Vazon Self Catering is located in a rural area on the west coast of the island with the longest beach, Vazon Bay, only a minute’s walk away. The location is quiet yet still convenient for all the facilities and amenities that the island has to offer.

Vazon Bay is just across the road; due to limited car parking this end of the beach is never very busy. Dogs are allowed on the beach opposite the chalet and cottage all year round. Swimming is safe at all stages of the tide. Due to the large tidal ranges the Channel Islands experience, the walk down to the water at low tide is about 200m, though remember that at high tide the water can be within 10m of the steps that take you onto the golden sands.

Eating out in Guernsey

EATING OUT

There are a wide range of bars and restaurants to enjoy on the island which can be easily found and reviewed on trip advisor or Visit Guernsey

Locally we would recommend the Rockmount just over a mile along the coast (www.therocky.gg) or the Fleur du Jardin (www.fleurdujardin.com) where you can enjoy a cosy pint and meal in the winter and a dip and dine in the summer. A young family favourite is found a short walk down the dunes track, Crabby Jacks, where a popular play area entertains small children while their parents enjoy dinner.

St Peter Port and the rest of the island plays host to more favourites. We would be happy to discuss our further recommendations with you.

Shopping in Guernsey

SHOPPING

For convenience shopping there is a Co-op shop about one mile away along Vazon bay and a Morisson’s mini market at the garage at Perelle bay petrol station about one mile in the other direction. There are two Waitrose supermarkets on the outskirts of St Peter Port; one on the Rohais and the other along the seafront between St Peter Port and St Sampson.

Getting around in Guernsey

GETTING ABOUT

Driving on the island is fairly relaxed with a maximum speed limit of 35MPH though some of the roads are quite narrow. Parking around the island is free. In some places, particularly around St Peter Port and St Sampson, there are time restrictions. You set a parking clock on the dashboard indicating your arrival time; the length of time you can park will be indicated on a nearby blue sign. A parking clock is provided. Please leave it in the unit when you depart.

There are bus stops on the main road just outside the property with regular buses around the island and to St Peter Port. The current flat-rate fare is £1.00. Travel Passes are available.

Car and bicycle hire are available on the island. The island has recently introduced e-bikes for rental. To use these bikes you need to download the EVieBike app and charges are made by the ten minutes.  See www.evieondemand.com to download the app and see further information.

TIMINGS

Fir Tree Chalet and Bay View Cottage will be available on the day of arrival from 2pm. Please vacate by 10am at the latest on the day of your departure. If you require storage for suitcases during that day please ask.

PAYMENT

Prices quoted on Airbnb include electricity charges and the provision of linen and towels.

A dog can be accommodated by arrangement. We have generally found our canine guests to be a clean and well behaved bunch but we do reserve the right to request GBP40 for an enhanced clean where it is required.

Please note that full payment is required at the time of booking in line with Airbnb terms. It is possible to pay in two instalments on Airbnb if you choose to do so.

Some guests prefer to book and pay directly with us and we are happy to accommodate such bookings as may be required.

TRAVEL TO GUERNSEY

If you are travelling by ferry we suggest that you contact Channel Islands Travel Service [01534 496611] and Channel Islands Direct [08009 800003] for comparative quotes to Condor Ferries [0345 609 1024] [www.condorferries.co.uk]. Condor Ferries run the only ferry service to the islands; they use both a high speed car carrying trimaran from Poole [travel time about 3 hours], and a conventional ferry from Portsmouth [travel time about 6 hours]. Airlines servicing the island include Loganair, Aurigny, Blue Islands and Eurowings.

For our Continental guests, Condor Ferries run from St Malo, shortest travel time 2 hours and Manche Iles Express from Dielette and Carteret.
